Spicy Shrimp Penne

Penne and shrimp meet our bold Arrabbiata sauce for a quick, spicy dinner that brings the heat and keeps weeknight dinner exciting.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 3 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups Francesco Rinaldi Spicy Arrabbiata sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil, plus more for serving

Directions:

  1. Cook the pasta in a pot of salted water until al dente. Drain, reserving ½ cup of the cooking pasta liquid.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until shrimp is opaque, transfer to a bowl.
  3. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in the same skillet over medium heat. Add garlic for 30 seconds. Add the Arrabbiata sauce and basil and simmer on low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the cooked pasta on top of the sauce and add some of the reserved cooking liquid. Serve with shrimp on top and extra basil
